Robert Bell has over 30 years of experience as an association manager and business consultant for both nonprofit and profit-driven and organizations operating in the IT outsourcing, telecommunications, and financial services industries. His strengths are in business and program planning and management of execution. In recent assignments, he has:

  • Developed a new operating model for a non-profit international trade association that cut expenses 40%, built revenues, and returned the association to positive cash flow within 2 years.
  • Managed and marketed social and educational events on a broad range of topics including:
    • The annual Content Distribution Forum at the National Association of Broadcasters convention in Las Vegas
    • The annual Building the Broadband Economy summit in New York City
    • The Teleport Forum at the annual SATELLITE conference and exhibition in Washington DC
    • The Gala of the Society of Satellite Professionals International in Washington DC
  • Conducted market feasibility studies of the commercialization potential of satellite technologies for a Fortune 500 military contractor.
  • Written the business plan for a new Middle Eastern satellite service provider.
  • Developed and marketed new services for a privately held IT outsourcing company that led to an increase in the annual growth rate from an historical average of 5% to over 11% per year. This growth rate was cited in the prospectus for the company’s successful IPO.
  • Created and managed a brand strategy and marketing communications program for a $100 million publicly-traded satellite technology and services company.

Mr. Bell has led business development missions and conducted workshops and Master Classes in the Americas, Europe and Asia.  A regular blogger, he has also written for The Municipal Journal of Telecommunications Policy, IEDC Journal, Telecommunications, Asia-Pacific Satellite, Digital Communities, and Asian Communications.  He is a frequent speaker and moderator at industry conferences including SATELLITE, NAB, SATCON, Building the Broadband Economy and the Global Forum He is also the author of market studies and reports including Teleport Benchmarks, Sizing the Teleport Market, How to Buy Satellite Capacity and Benchmarking the Intelligent Community.  He is the co-author, with Louis Zacharilla, of B2B Without the BS, a guide to sales and marketing in the unique business-to-business sector, and Broadband Economies: Creating the Community of the 21st Century.
